FOREVER DAISIES

 DAISY DEFINITION:

Old English phrase ‘DAES EAGE’ which translates to ‘DAYS EYE’. These flowers close at dusk and re-open at dawn.

Daisies are flowers that are greatly underestimated and overlooked.  Many suggest Daisies as being plain, uninteresting, and common.  I don’t agree …. Daisies are fascinating!

One of the most interesting facts about a daisy; they are two flowers in one.  The outside petals are called ‘rays’ and they have an inner centre, which is formed with tiny clusters of flowers.  This unique feature of the daisy is why it is called the flower of love, where two become one.

 I’m always looking for something new to inspire me for my next photo project. One afternoon on a walk around the neighbourhood I kept noticing daisies in peoples’ gardens.  Was this a sign?  Yes!  My next project could be Daisies!!

I visualised my images to be soft and pastel toned; it would be a high key project using a new technique for me learn and master!                    I really enjoyed photographing this subject and to express the thoughts I had while photographing my daisies, I have written a Haiku for each of them.
